Still here....kinda

Been a very long time since the last post. I guess the whole blogging thing is just blaise at this point. Anyway, the Phils are making a run at another World Series, the club is open and leagues start soon. Lots of newbies from Olympics are members and jumping in with both feet.

Still don't have much to write about. Maybe after the Phils win another world championship.

Summer doldrums

The weather is warming and the air is getting sticky. The slow pace of summer approaches. This means mowing the grass and not doing much else on the weekends. Trips here and there, Yankee games once in a while and summer curling club projects.

The Triple Crown ended with a fizzle. Did not bet the Belmont and saved money on that one as well. Horse racing seems to be in trouble all over the country. Just no excitement to the sport anymore.

The Phils are mired in a deep offense slump as the whole team has forgotten how to hit. The good thing is the rest of the division is playing .500 ball as well so they are still in the hunt. Lots of season left to get turned around and win the division.

Summer curling projects include sending our rocks to Canada for reconditioning. The Olympic push really helped to increase the club coffers and made this possible. Time to start working on building the painting tank for next season as well. Looks like ice making will start in late August again this year and that date is getting closer all the time.

Off to Canada again this summer for a relaxing time at Lake of the Woods. Time to catch up with friends up there and do a little fishing. Always fun.

This and that

Did not bet on the Preakness so saved a little money there. Would have bet the winner but not the second place horse. Might bet the Belmont as both the Derby and Preakness winners will not be running.

Back from the GNCC Spring meeting. Won the Bell Quoits trophy. Pretty cool as this competition started in 1868.

The Phils sweep the Brew Crew and move out to a good lead in the East with the Mets sinking fast toward the cellar.

Derby aftermath

Once again I should listen to myself. Super Saver was in the mix on Thursday, not on Friday and in and out on Saturday. Good thing Mrs. JH is smarter than me cause she had the exacta. Too many losing bets to make any money but did get back all that was bet with the one exacta.

Is there a triple crown this year? I don't think so at this point. Super Saver may win the Preakness but the Belmont is a long, long race and I don't think he can hang for the wire.

Will be interesting to see who runs the Preakness.

Friday Derby update

Okay, after a day of review here we go.

Most likely to win - Lookin at Lucky, Awesome Act, Mission Impazible
In the mix - Ice Box, Jackson Bend, Sidney's Candy

So those three will be on top or boxed in the exactas and trifectas. Heavy exacta on the top three and those three on top of a big tri. Can't bet them all.

Good luck to all those playing and see you at the winners window.
