blog 1/31/2008

Just got back from the Thrifty at Plainfield. Got to play on Sunday at least this year. Bit of problem on the team as my knees were still aching from the club playdowns and Mrs. JHcurl has been having back problems. So, two people who can't sweep but we held our own anyway. Lots of karaoke on Saturday night and at least this year we didnt get "fleeced". The entire pipe band didn't show up this year either so that was better, only 4 pipers I think in a really small room, oh yeah, and 4 drummers.

Mixed playdowns are under way as I write this. Pretty good field this year in the GNCC with lots of experience. Derek was trying to lobby the USCA for a volume discount as he and Charrissa have entered every national event this year (doubles, club, nationals and mixed).

The serious curling season is about to start with Nationals and all the Canadian events. Lots of curling to watch and with the CurlTV subscription now have to figure out how to get any work done.

On the Nutmeg front we added another 40 or so curlers this season so are well over 165 I think. Really good retention from last year as almost everyone returned. The Golden Handle is shaping up nicely with 16 teams entered so far. Nutmeg is having playdowns to get in with four teams playing off.

Go Giants!
Later,
JH
